Land Units

Marine

Marine

Trains From: Barracks
Armament: 8mm C-14 Impaler Gauss Rifle
Role: General-purpose Infantry

Marines are the first line of defense for most terran worlds. The heavy armor worn by marines is effective against small-arms fire and provides them with full life support and NBC (Nuclear/Biological/Chemical) shielding for operation in deep space and other hostile environments.

In armory, they can be equipped with new balistic shield and their C-14 Gauss rifle may be upgraded to U-238 shells, which extends the lethal range of gauss rifles by up to 25%. This flexible sidearm can be used to target both air and ground enemies. They can also use the “Stimpack” ability (a powerful mix of synthetic adrenaline and endorphins) increasing their speed and reflexes, but in a price of loose their hit points.

Reaper

Reaper

Trains From: Barracks
Armament: P-45 Scythe Gauss Pistols, D-8 Charges
Role: Raider

Reapers are the most hardened terran criminals, taken from the most dangerous and violent prisons. They’re light-armored, but have a personal jet packs. These packs grant reapers a high degree of mobility allowing them attacking from at least expected directions, hit-and-run raids etc..

In combat, reapers attack with dual gauss pistols. For tougher targets, they can be equipped with D-8 charges (Armory). These can be thrown a short distance and will detonate after an equally short delay. Reapers are also enthusiastic users of stimpacks (See Marine).

Ghost

Ghost

Trains From: Barracks
Armament: 25mm C-10 Canister Rifle
Role: Stealth Sniper

Ghosts epitomize the height of terran evolution and physical conditioning. Born with incredible psionic potential, these individuals are recruited and quarantined for government training from childhood. Ghosts channel their psionic energies to augment their natural physical strength and endurance.

On the battlefield, ghosts are rightly feared for their preternatural sniping ability with the C-10 canister rifle, capable of a one-shot kill. Tactically ghosts’ primary responsibility is to locate enemy structures or units and eradicate them by calling down drop-pods or tactical nuclear weapons. They can be also equipped with “Cloak” ability. This cloaking device allows ghosts to vanish from enemy sight.

Viking

Viking

Builds From: Factory
Armament: Twin Gatling Cannon (assault mode)
MT50 Lanzer Torpedoes (fighter mode)
Role: Air Combat/Ground Support

The Viking concept resolves problems with the effective range of Goliath anti-air support, and clumsiness of Wraith and Valkyrie assault fighters (both from Starcraft I). With the ability to change its combat role from an assault walker to an air-superiority fighter, the viking can switch smoothly to fulfill tactical needs in a developing battle.

Full-scale raids by viking squadrons can inflict devastating damage and are very problematic to counter. In order to defeat vikings, the enemy needs to bring a strong ground and air force to bear.

Thor

Thor

Built By: SCV
Armament: “Thor’s Hammer” Particle Accelerators, 250mm Bombardment cannon
Role: Ultimate Heavy-assault Mech

The Thor project has been shrouded in mystery since its very beginning. This ultimate weapon designed by Terran dominion is armed as heavily as a battlecruiser, could be constructed quickly by SCVs in the field. Its poor manoeuvrability is recompensed by strong armor and extreme armament - particle accelerators against smaller targets and four brutal 250mm bombardment cannons against structures.

Air Units

AH/G-24 Banshee

AH/G-24 Banshee

Builds From: Starport
Armament: Backlash Cluster Rockets
Role: Tactical Strike Aircraft

The AH/G-24 aircraft is cheap, relatively robust, and well suited to its intended role of making tactical strikes on the battlefield. As a planetary craft, the banshee doesn’t need high-powered engines to achieve escape velocity and fight in orbit, so instead technicians fitted it with economical twin turbofans.

It is equipped with powerful air-to-ground cluster rockets, which are devastating against ground targets. On the other side, lack of air-to-air weapons make the Banshee an easy target for enemy aicraft.

Battlecruiser

Battlecruiser

Builds From: Starport
Armament: Laser Batteries, Yamato Cannon, Plasma Torpedoes
Role: Capital Ship

Each Terran fleet can’t exist without its main force - battlecruiser. Well known from the original Starcraft, the Battlecruiser is back as well as his powerful weapon - Yamato, which is capable of one-shot killing and decomposing-into-pieces smaller enemy units. It’s also armed with new plasma torpedoes, giving battlecruisers an armament capable of saturating a target area with a lethal deluge of fire, ideal for breaking up oncoming attack waves or ravaging a defensive position.

Following units Blizzard didn’t published yet, but they can be seen in gameplay movies and they are confirmed in many interviews. Their capabilities may be different in final version.

Nothing

Siege Tank

Terran mobile artillery. It can be quickly transformed into siege mode, where has an extremely long firing range which extends beyond its own vision range. Marines, Ghosts, and other units can be used as spotters.

Cobra

Cobra

The Cobra is a fast Terran hover unit. It is armed with two rail guns and it can shoot while moving - similar to the Siege Tank in tank mode. It has the ability to attack ground and air units, although its weapons are particularly effective against armored targets.
