| Starcraft is a real-time strategy game, from Blizzard Entertainment (Warcraft I and II, Diablo I and II, World of Warcraft). It was released in 1998 for MS Windows (for other platforms such as Mac OS and Nintendo 64 was released later). The main storyline follows a war among three unique species: the adaptable and mobile Terrans, who are descendants of Human outcasts from Earth, the hive mind arthropodal Zerg, and the psionic humanoid Protoss warriors. You as a player can take control of anyone of these races and lead them to victory in three episodes of single player mode. |

| However, it is the multiplayer options that make this game REALLY shine. Blizzard provides its own FREE online service, Battle.net, and here you can meet Starcraft and Diablo players from around the world. StarCraft was the best-selling computer game in 1998, nine million copies of StarCraft and its expansion pack, StarCraft: Brood War, have been sold since its release, making it the third best-selling computer game in history. |
And now, nearly a decade after the original’s debut, Blizzard Entertainment has announced a
follow-up to the sci-fi real-time strategy game - Starcraft II.
